Tracy Walters Invitational
Audubon Park, Spokane, Wa
This meet uses a unique scoring system running ten rather than seven members of the team and scoring 8 rather than 5 runners. They also use club scoring to name an overall champion for each gender. Club scoring uses a point value system based on the number of competitors a runner beats rather than the finish place of a runner. In club scoring the high point team wins.
JV Girls; The
team won the meet and were lead by Mackenzie Platt running her first race
of the season, she finished a close second in 21:42, she was following closely
by Caley Featherstone (3rd)
in 21:58. Amber Hughes was 5th
in 22:02, freshman Anne Bahr was 7th
in 22:16, Tara Woodward 13th
23:00, Lauren Reeder 19th
23:33, Allie Sisson 25th
24:20, and Alice Forbes rounded out the scoring in 26th
24:22. Alice won the ‘anchor’ award for this race by being the final scorer of
the winning team.
JV Boys; the
Braves weren’t able to field a complete team as some of the JV Boys were unable
to make the trip. But the seven that ran did a very good job. Freshman Jim
Shaver ran 19:21 in 33rd,
Joe Uberaga ran 19:38 in 43rd,
Patrick O’Neil 48th
19:52, Hunter Mann 54th
20:19, Pete Larson 61st
20:41, Nils Bruhn 67th
20:45, and finally Destin Frank 73rd
21:10.
Varsity
Girls; finished 2nd behind only Bozeman a team ranked in the top 25 in the
country. Kate Jamboretz ran a great race in 3rd
in an excellent time of 18:49. The next 4 runners finished in a pack and had a
time gap of only 27 seconds, Liz Ryan 11th
19:45, Dessie Weigel 14th
19:54, Victoria O’Neil 15th
19:56 and Molly Bradbury 20th
20:12. Rounding out the scoring were Evan Gustavsen 25th
20:35, Alex Goode 34th
20:57, and Rachel Rant 35th
21:15. Also running were Paige Van Ocker 37th
21:24 and Mary Hickerson 23:24. As a team the Girls finished second behind
Bozeman, (Bozeman, Montana) they are ranked in the top ten in the country.
Varsity Boys; The race was billed as the fastest high school race in the nation, each team in the race was either a state champion or runner up in their state. In the team standings North Central lead the way with Coeur d’Alene the runner’s up the Braves ran a close 7th gaining a great deal of experience for their efforts. Thomas Rigby finished 16th in 16:26, Kenton Freemuth 27th 16:27, Adam Litster 27th 16:49, Nick Brokaw 31st 16:52, Miles Ranck 42nd 17:12, freshman Alden Glass 46th 17:19, John Jamboretz 47th 17:19, Max Mulcahy 66th 18:27, Eric Bellan 68th 18:41 and finally Nate Showalter 69th 19:12.
Using the Club Scoring system the Girls team was named the Meet Champions scoring 1409 points to runner up Central Valley's 1287. Eastlake was 3rd, Bozeman 4th, Kamiakin 5th and Coeur d'Alene 6th. The Boys team finished 7th with North Central the meet hosts being named the meet club champions.
